Most of you will know the Graze Wine Club in collaboration with Preston’s Liquor Stores holds a monthly wine tasting event usually on the first Friday of each month and we’re very excited to have some of the owners/wine makers in attendance at these events this year . We have Glen Carlou Estate coming for a tasting on Friday 7 March and also Alto Rouge Estate on Wednesday 28 May 2025 both events not to be missed so put this in your diary now. Our next tasting is on Friday 7 February 2025 from 6pm when we’ll be tasting the fabulous wines of Iona. Andrew Gunn is the owner of Iona Wines in Elgin. He purchased the farm, an old apple farm, in 1997 and named it after the island of Iona in Scotland. The vineyard is situated 420m above sea level in Elgin. This altitude, proximity to the cold Atlantic Ocean, cool sea breeze, extensive orographic cloud cover, high humidity with varied complex soils makes this a unique vineyard producing some excellent award winning wines, so don’t delay call or WhatsApp us now on 063 644 3878 to book your seat, Cheers!

Did you know that the Elgin Valley is the coolest climate wine growing area in South Africa and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at an altitude of 420m along the southern ridge lies the unique Iona vineyards. A unique phenomenon happens at Iona. The combination of the short distance from the freezing Atlantic Ocean and the rapid increase in altitude causes the prevailing summer South East wind to roll across the vines, forming misty clouds that blanket the farm on warm days.

This protects the grapes from the African sun – allowing filtered sunlight into the canopy – resulting in SLOW ripening with perfect acidity, moderate alcohol and beautifully developed flavours. You’ll be able to experience these unique phenomenons at our next wine tasting event on Friday 7 February 2025/from 6pm when we’ll be tasting the fabulous wines from Iona
